Now that so many ponds have disappeared from our country side amphibious creatures are dependant on garden ponds to survive. Even the tiniest garden pond will soon become home to frogs, toads and newts and almost as soon as the pond is built water boatmen and pond skaters will arrive. As with any size pond they all require maintenance at certain times of the year and a complete clear out every 3-4 years.
