Pond Maintenance
Attention to detail is what sets us apart from other companies.
We always leave the garden as we found it and treat it as you would your own garden.
A well maintained pond is a healthy pond
We offer visits: Monthly/ Bi- Monthly/Quarterly/1/2 yearly/Annually.
During these visits we would carry out the following:
- Clean the pump – de scale if required
- Clean the filter
- Change the UVC bulb – de scale quartz if required
- Check gaskets on filters and UVC – replace if required
- Remove blanket weed
- Treat for algae infestations – if required
- Carry out a water quality test
- Vacuum or net out debris and silt from the base of the pond
- Cut back aquatic plants – during Autumn visits
- Divide and re-pot aquatic plants – as required
- Carry out a visual health check on the fish – if present
- Fit a pond cover net – if required
- Clean waterfall – if required
Maintenance visits are charged by the hour + VAT. All materials used during the work are charged for as extra + VAT.
Please note: For Health and Safety reasons we always work in a team of two.

Swim Ponds
Natural swimming pools have been around in the UK since 2001.
The basic principle of a swimming pond is to use the natural clarifying properties of plants to sustain clean, clear and healthy water which is also chemical free.
Women with Waders currently maintains 5 swim ponds within the area. As you can see from the photos taken before and after, regular maintenance is essential. During our monthly visits we:
- Net out dead leaves
- Empty the skimmer baskets
- Trim dead foliage from aquatic plants
- Net out any blanket weed
- Hoover the bottom of the pond

Lake Management
One area that has seen significant growth for Women with Waders in recent years is the maintenance and clearance of large bodies of water. This year we have maintained some very large ponds and lakes.
Often these large bodies of water have been neglected and due to the planting of invasive aquatic plants such as bull rushes, they have then become very overgrown. It is vitally important that these expanses of water are maintained as they soon become an overgrown odorous bog.
This year we’ve invested in some large equipment so we can de-sludge these large bodies of water without the use of mechanical diggers etc. This causes less disruption to the wildlife and the general pond habitat.
Often literally tons of aquatic plants are removed from small areas. It is usually more practical to tip this on site but we can arrange for all debris to be taken off your site.
Each job is different so a site survey must be undertaken.

Swim Pond, Radlett, Herts
We received the following comments from our customer regarding the above swim pond which was completed in Radlett, Hertfordshire:
I just wanted to write and let you know how delighted I am with the pond maintenance work that Women with Waders has been carrying out for me. Six months ago my swimming pond was looking very unloved; the planting was swamped by blanket weed and plant growth had been poor, there was also an uninviting green slime covering every surface. Even after the first visit, the situation had improved tremendously. As well as doing the most fantastic job of meticulously clearing all signs of blanket weed, your knowledgeable staff also suggested changes to the filter settings of the pond. Their regular maintenance programme coupled with the mechanical changes that they suggested appears to have done the trick and, even through the winter months, the pond has remained a pleasure to look at. My brother-in-law was delighted that his traditional Christmas Day swim took place this year in a beautiful, clear pond.
