Pond refurbishment service
We undertake pond refurbishments for multiple reasons. On occasions, the pond has been in situ for a number of years and the liner may have become brittle, or damaged. In some cases the original construction was not ideal and perhaps the levels not correct. Sometimes, when moving property the new owners want to simply improve the existing pond and make it more wildlife friendly.
Research indicates that half a million ponds have been lost over the last 100 years and one in five remaining ponds are thought to be in poor condition. Its our mission to restore and re-build existing ponds, making them more wildlife friendly in the process. We love to see an old pond brought back to life!
Pricing for pond construction or refurbishment
Each pond is unique in design, size and stocking levels. It is therefore necessary to visit your premises to discuss your requirements and carry out a site survey before an accurate quote for pond construction or refurbishment can be given.
The survey is free of charge within a 25 mile radius of our premises in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. A charge will be made to visit outside this area, however, this amount will be deducted from the final bill if the quote is accepted. Case Studies
Beaconsfield - Refurbishment
Mr W already had a pond, but wanted it replaced for one which is slightly larger & more wildlife friendly.
Unhappy with the construction of their original pond, Mr W wanted our assistance in a complete re-build. After discussions on what the client had envisaged, we set to work digging out the area to incorporate shelving around the edges for more marginal planting. We then fitted new underlay with a butyl liner and completely re-built the waterfall. The wildlife friendly edging was created using a varied selection of cobbles which gives the pond a natural aesthetic and allows it to blend seamlessly into the garden.
Welwyn Garden City - Construction
Mr H wanted a natural looking pond with York stone edging, in a dedicated wildlife area.
Mr H has been a client of ours for a number of years and we have regularly maintained his pond & water feature within his superb formal gardens. He decided that in addition to this pond, he would like to create a natural pond for wildlife. Knowing our work as an existing client of Women with Waders, he instructed our team for the construction.
We selected York stone for the edging and added a cobbled beach area for a small waterfall. The pond has a natural feel and was finished with a selection of plants which help to attract lots of wildlife.
Harpenden - Refurbishment
Mrs S needed a full refurbishment of her wildlife pond situated within a garden border. A great example of how a pond can fit into a small space.
This lovely pond was in much need of some attention and so Mrs S got in touch with us for a price to re-line it. The original pond had become overgrown with grasses and moss and the liner was in need of replacement.
A new underlay and liner were used before re-constructing the cobble edge, breathing new life into the old pond. This is also a great example of how a pond doesn’t need to be huge in order to attract wildlife. A simple creation like this can sit perfectly within even the smallest of gardens.
Baldock - Construction
Ms M had found the perfect spot within her garden for a natural looking pond.
Ms M contacted us for a quote to construct a natural looking pond within her garden. The site has a ‘secret garden’ feel, with water features already in place and rooms created using formal hedging. The placement of the pond was picked in a lovely private spot, in view from the potting area of her greenhouse.
We used York stone for the edging, with a pebble beach area for easy wildlife access. The materials used, blend into the existing gravel area perfectly. The pond was completed with a selection of marginal plants to further encourage wildlife.
