Example 3:
A customer from Heydon also found our advert in 'The Listing'.
The customer had a pond that hadn't been maintained for over 20 years and was full of silt and debris. During our initial visit we also found that the lining of this large pond had become perished and torn.
Our first step was to clean the pond out, and after this it was necessary for us to replace the old perished liner with a new one. After many back breaking hours the old liner was removed and with help from the manufacturer, our team laid the new liner, which weighed half a ton!
As a result of our efforts, the pond was transformed and the customer and his fish were very happy!
Example 4:
Dunkirk Farm - Hertford: The customer found our web site by searching on Google, contacted us and said we were just what he'd being searching for. We visited his pond and found a very neglected overgrown swamp. A price was given and accepted.
We were on site for three days, during which time and the pond was totally transformed. We have been back since to carry out more planting, including the addition of some water Lilys. Further visits will be made to carry out general maintenance.
Example 5:
We don't just do ponds! See below for an example of a stream we were asked to refurbish.
Examples of Pond Refurbishment
Here are some example of pond refurbishment we have carried out for our customers. Click any photo to enlarge.
Example 1:
Mr and Mrs Plowman of Stevenage contacted us after finding our website and an appointment was made to discuss their requirements.
‘’In our back garden, we had a small, old fibreglass pond with a few goldfish and a tench who deserved a better home, so we asked Women with Waders to come and give us some ideas of what could be possible within a small budget, which was a bequest from my late grandfather."
On Mr and Mrs Plowman's wish list was the following:
- an area for water lilys
- deep enough for koi
- to raise the pond level in line with the existing patio wall
- provide access for frogs and newts
- create a waterfall
After two site meetings where a number of options were carefully explained,we came up with a design which incorporated all of the above and was withinthe client's budget. To achieve all of this we decided to recommend the following course of action
- To remove their original fibre glass pond and construct a larger pond using a butyl liner.
- In order for them to keep both water lilys and Koi we suggested constructing a wall which would divide the pond into two areas – one for the lilys and the other deeper area for the Koi.
- A large filter system would also be required to keep the pond clear and clean.
Our quote was accepted and the work undertaken. Mr Plowman had the folowing to say:
"The gang arrived on a warm Monday morning and the transformation began. Within no time the old pond was drained, fish decamped to a big container, frogs to safe corners of the garden and plants divided and re-potted. By the end of day 1, the new hole was dug and 3 lorry-loads of spoil removed. Walls, liner, pumps and the filter system were all done on day 2 and by the end of day 3, fish and plants were back in the water and the waterfall was taking shape. Electrics and landscaping were complete before the end of day 4 and the garden was left in such a tidy state that you would never have known the extent of the work that had gone on there if you hadn’t seen it.
We now have a beautiful pond, which will provide us and our friends and family with a relaxing area to sit and enjoy watching our fish grow and play together. We cannot thank Jo and her team enough for the speed and quality of the work and for the friendly and professional service they have given us’’.
Example 2:
Mrs Pender contacted us after seeing out advert in the Weston Parish magazine. We arranged a visit to take a look. The pond was in a poor state of repair, the liner was damaged and there was very little water in the pond only sludge, weeds and some hidden Aquatic Plants. The pond required a total refurbishment.
Here's what we did:
- Pumped out any water from the pond
- Removed the weeds & Aquatics Plants
- Removed all the sludge by hand
- Removed the old liner and layers of old plastic bags underneath it
- Re-shaped the pond & lined it with sand & underlay
- Installed the new Butyl rubber pond liner
- Finished off the edges and refilled the pond with tap water
As you can see from the pictures the pond looks very different and the still water reflects the surrounding trees. We saved the Aquatic Plants, which we replanted, and once these start to grown the pond edges will be softened and disguised.
